Tee's Treasures has a new name!

I'm moving this weekend but I wanted to say that if you're looking for "Tee's Treasures" it has now gotten a new name! I had an epiphany last night and changed my paper/card blog name. I used to be afraid of my Cricut and finally said to myself, "Seriously, it's just paper!" When put into that perspective, spending fifty-nine cents on a piece of paper to try something out isn't that big of a deal.

So, Tee's Treasures has officially become "Seriously, it's only paper!" and will soon (as soon as I possibly make it happen) be sporting some new stuff.

Welcome to my new followers. Glad to have you and I will be checking out your blogs.

Shut out!

LOL - none of us (Amy, Keith, or I) won a door prize last night. Bummer dudes and dudettes! But, we had a blast anyway.

I rode in the go-karts. I had a blast even though I played it safe and let the "boys" lap me more than once on the track. I was going as fast as this old lady wanted to go. The wind was in my hair, I was driving along the lap, and just enjoying being a "kid" again. I did have to have Keith help me out of the car. My balance was a bit off from going round in circles on the track but it was fun.

I played a game of bowling. I beat Keith (Rex and Amy didn't bowl). Only by 3 pins but I still beat him. That was also after falling down (lost my balance on the slippery floor) - but I didn't go sliding down the lane. That would have been UGLY! LOL - Keith and Rex asked me if I was OK. I managed to get myself up off the floor, so that was good. I didn't have to have a crane come out there and get me up off the floor!
I left there about 10:15 last night to head home. Rex took my car home with them so he can replace my water pump this weekend. Thank goodness he drove it; he checked the coolant level before heading out and said I had NONE. We just had the coolant put in on Tuesday so it leaked out over the course of three days. So glad that he is taking care of that maintenance item for me this weekend.

We have Isaiah this weekend. Trade-off... Ron kept him last night while we went to the party and I said I'd keep him and take him home tomorrow. We're going to go see Hop tomorrow before we head home. One more week and our trip to take Isaiah "home" will be 1/2 mile instead of 45 miles. We're glad to keep him and it makes it easier for Rex to be able to work on the car. I think we have the better end of the deal!

I have tons to do today - errands to run, "garage sale" items to pick up from the scrapbook store (they have a semi-annual garage sale where you can bring unused items and sell them; then you get store credit). I think I sold most of the things that I had taken - some papers, albums, embellishments, etc. I have one item that they sell that I want so I hope (and I think) that I sold enough odds and ends to buy it outright. We shall see.

I also have to go to a little cosignment shop here in town to drop off some clothing. I've taken a few things down and told her that I had some more items and she asked me to bring them on down. We're having a garage sale in a couple of weeks but people want to give you $1 for something that is easily worth $20 (even as a resale item). So, I'd rather take them to consignment and pay her a small fee to get me a better price.

I do have another post I want to do this weekend so I might get that done tomorrow. You all have a great weekend!

Friday Funkiness

Funkiness in not a bad way... Actually, it's been a pretty good Friday. It had the potential of being really, really bad but I think we've averted that issue.

With all the "house" paperwork, Ron was served with a notice that a judgment had been granted against him in the amount of $5,000 and some change in April 2008. When we got the notice (about three weeks ago), I jokingly asked him if there was something he wanted to 'fess up about. He had no clue, I had no clue. I called my paralegal sister and she had no clue what it could be from. April 2008 was not a good month for us but not because we'd received any civil action paperwork. It was one of those months that Ron nearly died in. (2008 is sort of a blur... It was a $250,000.00 year for us and not in a good way - our medical bills that year were in the tens of thousands for our portion.)

I'd never heard of the company and Ron had never heard of the company who had filed the claim. I called the clerk of the circuit court's office to ask about the paperwork and was told (after providing the case number) that the "Ron" in the case was served at a Best Western hotel in April 2008. I explained that it couldn't have been him because of him being either just in the hospital in kidney/heart failure or just out of the hospital from kidney/heart failure. She advised that I call the attorney for this company, so I did. I got no one but after several tries I did get an answering machine. Left a detailed message and considered it taken care of.

Not so fast... Last night at 9:30 PM our doorbell rings. Ron and I both thought Keith had ordered pizza so I go to the door in my jammies. Instead, it's a lady on the front porch with what I can see are legal papers. She asks for "Ronnie" and I ask her which one since "Ronald" is the legal name for both Ron and Keith. She said she assumes it's senior that she wants. I pointed to him in his recliner and asked what she wanted. She said she was there to serve papers to him - I asked about what and she advised that it was from the same company that I'd called their attorney about three weeks ago. We showed her Ron's driver's license. I told her that it wasn't us, the name wasn't the same (Ronnie D is not Ronald K); she said it could be a typo. I said that he was in the hospital dying at that time and there was no way he was at Best Western. She was nice but insistent that she was leaving the paper (of course, she wanted to get paid for delivering it). She recommended that I call the claimant this time instead of the lawyer. The paper was a summons to appear in court TODAY at 1:30 PM or be cited or arrested. (The thought of them trying to come arrest him and haul him out of the house in the condition he's in just sent his blood pressure skyrocketing. That is just what he needs - NOT!)

So, at 8:01 AM this morning, I called the company. Explained the situation to the lady who handles their legal things. The "Ronnie" they're looking for is/was a car dealer. She asked if Ron had ever sold cars (now, that is a laugh considering all the vehicles we've had over the years and the car mistakes he's made - and I've let him make) and I just laughed. I said no, that he retired from Boeing in 2008 and the only way they kept him on long enough to retire was so he could get his 30-year certificate. He only worked part of the first 6 weeks of the year and was off on total disability from February 18, 2008. I told her he was in the hospital six times in 2008 (and a total of 15 times since then - I may be off 1 or 2; I'd have to do a count). I told her I'd be happy to fax her some of our medical bills and such to prove my point. She laughed and said that she didn't think that would be necessary and that she would call the attorney and tell him they had the wrong guy.

Ya think???  Poor Ron... His blood pressure is still very high. He called his doctor again today so they're re-visiting what medications they want him to take. He's not "hospital high" but it's high.

Tonight is our company's end-of-season party. I'm going just because it's a free fun night. I'm planning on winning the grand prize tonight. I've told everyone that I'm coming home with it.

Y'all think positive vibes for me... Teresa's winning the grand prize, Teresa's winning the grand prize... OK???

Dentist, Aorta, and Package

Monday night I ate some of the saltwater taffy that Keith brought home from New Jersey. It was delish until I noticed it was crunchy. Hmmm... Saltwater taffy shouldn't be crunchy. It was my tooth. Not fun. Called the dentist yesterday and went in to see him. I broke the side off of a tooth that was very weak to start with. They patched up as best they could but I'll need a crown. I get very nervous at dental appts. I had to take 1/2 of a Xanax. Next appointment is in three weeks.

Ron already had a broken tooth and an appointment today to have his looked at. Same dentist - they asked how mine was doing (very nice people). The dentist today wasn't too bad (LOL - for Ron). His crown - $465; my crown (in three weeks) - $465. That's after insurance. Yikes! Ron says I'll need to be sedated for them to do to me what they did to him. Double Yikes! I see more Xanax in my future. He says he can drive home. Triple Yikes! Not sure about that but I know that I cannot do the dental work without sedation. Might need to call in the big guns.... Amy!!!!

Almost forgot... Ron's aorta looks good. Back to the drawing board on the blood pressure. He's tracking them and will report back to the doctor next week.

Car needs a water pump, too. hahaha! I had to go to get a new tail light/turn signal light and had my oil changed at the same time. Had a 21-point check up when they did the oil change. Found a problem with the water pump. It's leaking. $276 but I didn't have the money to pay for that. Thank God that Amy's husband not only knows how to do stuff like that, he LIKES to do it and is WILLING to do it. He told me to let him look at what they recommended to have done (90,000 mile checkup) and see what he could do for the cost of parts. I really love that guy! We're so blessed.

A friend told me that God must love me an awful lot to let me go through so many trials. I appreciate the love (really I do), but I'm ready for just a little less of it.

The surprise package has arrived at its destination and he it was safe inside. I can't post exactly "what" it was inside until the recipient takes care of him it on her end.

I think I have a new reader or two. They didn't leave their names but I think one is my nephew's wife (her work ISP showed up in my stats) and one of them may be another relative. No matter who it is - welcome and I hope you enjoy what you read. Trust me, you'll only read truth here. If I sound angry or mad, it will pass. I don't hold grudges. Unfortunately, I do get my feelings hurt (especially by family) very easily so that won't pass quite as easily. But, it will eventually.

Have a great night/day

Birthday girl

30 years ago today, I was in a hospital bed waiting to deliver my second child. Back then, we didn't have ultrasounds so we didn't know if it was another boy or if it was a girl.  At 12:44 AM on April 27, 1981, I found out that my bundle of joy was a full bundle of female energy! I should have known though - based on how much time she took to be born that she wouldn't be in a hurry to really do anything she didn't exactly want to do.

But, from the minute she was born I knew that my life would never be the same. She was always busy, always on the go, and always curious about everything. And, she was on the move as soon as she figured out she could do it.

She...
  • crawled out of a playpen when she was 5 months old
  • pulled herself to standing (also at 5 months) and pulled  telephone off onto her face - requiring a trip to the ER. They had to be shown that she actually could stand and pull herself up.
  • walked at 6 months and had to have the smallest walking shoes that the children's shoe store sold. Again, I had to prove that she actually did walk. (That was really fun. I can still see the smirk fall right off that salesman's face. It was priceless.)
  • would walk over to her cousin (who was two weeks younger - and not crawling) and take his pacifier. After she was bored with it, she would drop it down on the floor but always out of his reach.
  • slept from midnight until 6:00 AM, took two 1-hour naps a day, and expected to be ENTERTAINED the rest of the time.
She caught the attention of bystanders in the mall with her "Elizabeth Taylor" eyes. She stole everyone's heart. She had attitude. I don't have a young picture of "miss attitude" but take this one and adjust for age... just think younger.

Or, you can see some attitude in these pictures, as well:

Especially the bottom left.

She was a pretty cute kid, though...

(I know - one is duplicated but it's from a couple of scans.)

This is one of my favorite pictures - she's picking on her cousin once again.

She's grown up into a lovely young woman, one that I'm so proud to call my daughter AND my friend. I wish her many, many happy birthdays to come as she celebrates a new life with her husband, son, and baby-to-be.

God bless you, Amy - and Happy Birthday. I'm not planning on being up at 12:44 AM on this April 27th!

Nosey-assed family...

I'm in a foul mood tonight. I was already in a bad (sad) mood today. I did the best that I could today but I still struggled with my mood. Ron spent the day watching Hulu on his laptop and I spent the day packing, cleaning, and doing laundry. Not exactly how I expected the day to go but it is what it is.

Found out this evening that one of my brother's inadvertently found out that we're losing our house. It was something I posted but didn't think about until later. Heck, he may even be reading this blog - I don't know and right now I don't even care (Jerry - if you are, enjoy; I'll post something later that is a little more "family friendly" about your favorite sister, you know - the one who hates me because I told Rick that Jake was doing drugs in Mom's basement, the same one who doesn't seem to mind that Rick was the one who kicked Jake out and who wanted us to tell when Jake was not living {for free} like he was supposed to in Mom's basement). I have about had it with the self-righteous, holier-than-thou crap.

Anyway, my oldest brother's wife asked my other sister if we were losing our house. My sister said, "they're moving to a retirement community." My SIL pressed on with, "yeah, but they're letting their house go back, right?" My sister again denied anything and said she didn't know what the deal was, only that we were moving. Do you think these two brothers have nothing better to do than to talk about Ron and I behind our backs? Have they thought to ask us instead? Or, maybe wonder if there are extenuating circumstances in this - like, the mortgage company that refused to work with us, saying our bills (including the medical expenses) were too high and who sent our money back? Or, the fact that the temporary leg was over $7,000 (we owed over $1,000 after insurance) and the permanent leg will be double that (two "stump" sleeves are over $1,000 each). Or, the fact that I've lost thousands and thousands of dollars in wages over the past three years? Or, the fact that we've spent (out of our pockets) about $30,000 since 2008? But, it's just easier to assume that we've been negligent and wasted our money on sh*t we didn't need.

Yeah, we've bought some things and did some things we didn't need to do. Yeah, we've been *gasp* - HUMAN! I've made mistakes. I feel like a F-ing failure. Yeah, I'm just on a freaking roll right now - loving life and just enjoying the hell out of things.

Yeah, right.

I got a lot of packing done today. I think that what's left is just what we need to live with. I've given Ron a task for this week... Clean out his dresser, sort what he needs to wear for 2 weeks (taking into consideration I will do laundry), sort out stuff to sell, trash, or donate, and pack everything that he doesn't need.  That should keep him busy this week and help me out, too.

I'm not looking forward to starting the work week tomorrow. First thing, though, is that Ron has to have blood work at 7:30 AM in the morning.

I better set my alarm.

Happy Easter!

I hope you all have a very blessed and Happy Easter.

Welcome new friends and other randomness

I want to welcome my new friends to my blog! Thank you for joining me and I hope that you find what I have to say interesting at least part of the time! I welcome your comments and rest assured, I do read every one of them.

I have really only a few things in life that are important to me...
Faith, family, and friends. Possessions are just things to weigh you down. The memories they hold are often more valuable than the possession itself. With that in mind, I have been passing some things on to others in my family (and some to friends) that I hope will give them fond memories as well.

Some of my goals in life are to be kind to others, do the best that I can, and to provide joy to others in whatever way that I can. I think that I am relatively successful in these things. I try to not say things to others that I would not want said to me. I try to put the joy and happiness of others first (this is very hard sometimes and I don't succeed as often as I'd like). I don't always do the best that I can but this is an area that I'm aware of and I'm working on it. Most of the time, the person who gets less than the best is only myself. I do the best that I can for others. They deserve my best. I don't always feel that I do.

With sharing in mind, this box is going out today to someone in my address book. If it happens to show up at your house, you might want to unwrap it quickly. And carefully. The person* item inside might be needing some fresh air by then.

Just saying...

*Just kidding... there's not a "person" per se in there. Just don't tell him it that. He It thinks he it is real. No people things were harmed in the taping or shipping of this box.

Aorta ultrasound today

Ron's blood pressure has been up. Waaayyy up. The kidney doctor adjusted his medications (increased his diuretic and increased one of his blood pressure pills). We have to watch his drugs pretty carefully because some things can really mess with his potassium levels (that is bad) so it's a special kind of dance we do with things. We've been taking his blood pressure all week and it's still up. He saw our PCP on Tuesday (or Wednesday; my how time flies!) and she scheduled an ultrasound of his aorta to see if there's a problem.

I took him in for that this morning. Bummer is that we have to wait until Monday (at the earliest) or Tuesday - or possibly even Wednesday - for the results to get back to the PCP. What if he has a real problem with his aorta? There are many risk factors involved, and he has several of them... he's over 55, he's male, and he's diabetic. Ding, ding, ding...

But, here again, we have to place our trust and faith in God. He is our provider, our healer, and our source of strength and comfort. I can do no more than to turn to Him for guidance and peace over the situation.

Home today

I do have an appointment with the specialist but not until May 12. Until then, I have to continue with what I'm currently doing to deal with the vertigo. Today, that meant staying in bed and not turning over too quickly. Bed spins are really not fun.

I think I've had episodes of vertigo for years. I have memories of bed spins from early childhood. They weren't nearly like they are today, and I didn't realize at the time what they were called. But, I have clear memories of feeling like I was swinging out over a great open area and just spinning. That is really odd and, in my mind, quite amazing that it not only happened but that I remember it so vividly. I think that is why I've never enjoyed "swinging" on a swing set or riding the swings at amusement parks. They bring back that feeling and it's really not an enjoyable feeling.

Meniere's disease is really a tricky condition to have. It's so subjective. One person with this condition can experience different "feelings" than someone else with the condition. I did read that it can be considered a disabling condition. There are days when I feel like I'm on that path. Meniere's can affect your concentration, your memory, and your energy. I can definitely see that. Since I've been fighting this latest episode (several months’ worth), I can tell that my concentration and my memory have been very involved. It also causes anxiety attacks. I've taken more Xanax in the past few weeks than I took in the whole of last year. Hmmm... wonder if I can use that in my issues at work? Nah, probably not. (just kidding.)

Meniere's disease and vertigo are not just having "dizzy" spells. It's much more involved than that and be varying in severity from person-to-person - and day-to-day. I can be fine today and wicked sick tomorrow. I have spent days in bed with vertigo. Leaning over to tie Ron's shoes can bring about an attack. Turning over in bed can bring about an attack. Looking up to see what's above me (on a shelf, in the pantry, in the sky, etc.) can bring about an attack. Packing – yeah, that can cause one, too… The constant up and down, reaching for something and depositing it in a box is a trigger waiting to happen. You just never know when or how bad it will be. This is not a fun way to live. Now that my right ear is totally involved in Meniere's (and deaf), the vertigo that is happening now could be my left ear involved. I'm really worried that I'll wake up deaf in that ear, too. That scares me. The thought of not being able to hear at all is never far from my mind. I try to not focus on it but it’s something that is out there.

I take two different diuretics and I’m not taking the meclizine. I even wore the little patches behind my ear for a while. They didn’t do too much and they’re expensive.

So, here I am and here I’ll be. I do have to run an errand today so I hope the vertigo doesn’t rear its ugly head while I’m trying to drive.
